Great Groomer Giveaway Update with Grooms by Sam, LLC.

Back in September 2024, Groomer's Choice launched the Great Groomer Giveaway, giving groomers the chance to win $5,000. Participants submitted videos sharing how they would use the prize, and after narrowing it down to three finalists, we let the public decide the winner. And that winner was Samantha Hollenbeck of Grooms by Sam, LLC.! Now, six months later, we’re catching up with Sam to see how she put that $5,000 to work.
Ever since the giveaway, not a week has gone by that I haven’t had a handful of dogs on my table and my client list continues to grow. I just posted the other day about limited availability until the spring and I have already filled my days in March with new and returning clients! I am busier than ever!
My Facebook page following has also continued to climb. I’m over 530 now, and I definitely think all the exposure I put out there during the competition was a huge part of that.
As I said in my winning video entry (above), the first thing to go was my old tub. My new DuraDog Electric Tub has been a game-changer—er, scratch that—a life-changer! My back doesn’t ache after just one bath, and now I’m able to take on larger dogs, which has brought in quite a few more clients.
As for the tools, my brand-new Artero blades have improved my finishing quality, and the wide blades have saved me so much time! I was able to cut down 30 minutes on a large doodle groom without changing anything but the width of the blade!
And the shears—oh, the shears! I chose Kenchii Scorpion shears and Kenchii Five Star shears. They are all fabulous. There is definitely a learning curve for them. They seem so delicate that I don’t even feel deserving of using them, but I’m getting used to them and feeling more worthy every day.
I have also had many dogs try the Warren London Grape Seed Oil Paw Revitalizer, and I have been hearing great feedback! I am so glad I decided to try that product and that my dog friends are getting some relief from irritation.
All in all, it’s been great! Winning this has given me the tools that would have otherwise been hard to obtain on my own. As a stay-at-home mom, the tub alone would have taken me at least a year to save up for.

Now that I have the tools and equipment, I am dedicated to providing a top-notch service to match. I also have the confidence to grow the business and take on more clients, even if I’m on a limited schedule for now. My 5-year-old daughter tells me she wants to be a dog groomer like Mommy and tells every dog owner she sees, “Come see my mom!”
