The high season can feel completely overwhelming. To maintain your peace without burning out, here are 5 tips to help you survive and lead with care:
1. Prepare physically and check your equipment. First, make sure everything in your business is running smoothly. Keep a backup dryer, clipper, and extra blades on hand to solve problems without stressing out. Being able to solve problems efficiently will help you maintain order and control over daily operations.
2. Organize your calendar and set boundaries. Encourage your clients to book well in advance. During the holidays, it is easy to let the pleaser mindset convince you to overcommit out of fears of disappointing others. The key is setting clear boundaries and educating our clients about what is possible and realistic.
3. Fuel your mind and your body. Take at least 3 breaks of 5 minutes to prepare your mind: listen to something uplifting, meditate, pray, or simply find peace in the present moment. Prepare snacks to avoid energy crashes, and if your body needs to stretch, do it! It's vital to set a routine and nurture yourself with things besides work.
4. Let go of perfectionism and watch your inner dialogue. Allow things not to be completely perfect. Having a non-perfect day is okay. Notice your internal dialogue—are you operating from a mindset of fear, or care? During these busy times, always remember to be kind to yourself and your inner voice too.
5. Keep your perspective: Everything will be fine Remember, this is just a short time; it’s only a few crazy weeks. Whatever goes wrong is simply a chance to fix something we hadn't noticed before, which is perfect for transforming mistakes into teachable experiences. I promise you, everything will be fine!
